A Smaller World

Psalm 4 & Psalm 46:10

With the coronavirus and the restrictions placed upon us for our protection, our world has become smaller. Our daily routines such as grocery shopping, doctor visits, and even church attendance have changed. The government has encouraged us to stay at home whenever possible to prevent the spread of the virus. We begin to wonder if our country will ever be the same again.

The Lord does not want us to be unsettled and fearful.  We should do what we can to be careful, but God is still in control. Our world may have become smaller, but our God has not gotten smaller.  He is not surprised nor is He dismayed by the situation.

Our confidence should not rest in the World Health Organization or the CDC.  Our confidence rests in God alone.  Our foundation is sure and steadfast in the Lord Jesus Christ.  2 Peter 1:2 states, “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”

Confidence in God keeps our hearts peaceful, and this same confidence encourages us in the present and will encourage us in the future. Psalm 46:10 states, “Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

God desires us to rest and trust in Him to meet our needs. The sweet verse from Psalm 4:8 states, “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for Thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”

Yes, our God is still in control.  He has not gotten smaller.
